Welcome to another RhythmAndSoulRadio Artist Feature. This began as we were planning to head to Austin, Tx for SXSW 2020 where we were going to present a special version on our signature event, The Rendezvous. It would have been our 2nd year presenting The Rendezvous in Austin, so the event was called The Rendezvous in ATX Vol. II. Unfortunately due to the concerns arising from is now the Coronavirus pandemic SXSW was cancelled therefore we had to cancel The Rendezvous in ATX Vol. II. We have decided to continue featuring the artists who were going to perform with us and we will continue this artist feature beyond that to shine an additional light on some of the independent artists whose music we play here on RhythmAndSoulRadio.com. This artist feature is special because this artist was one of the first connections we made with any artist when we made our first trip to Austin and SXSW in 2018. She goes by the name of TheShugAvery!!!!
After many years of writing for other artists, being featured on several hooks, as well as doing studio work and background work in the City of Houston during her undergrad years,TheShugAvery finally got the ball rolling on her own by releasing her first album in late 2015 entitled, #TheShugProject. Since then, she has been focused on branding herself as well as her writings, while continuously working on new music and perfecting her craft.
Singing in the church at a very young age, Avery (also known as Monae), has sung with several gospel and R&B groups, acted in a stage play, as
well as been a featured artist for the popular Poetry or Die team in Houston. "I don't want to be the next someone else" says Avery, "I'm looking to be the best me and build a
brand that is known for quality. I'd rather walk in my own shoes than try to fit someone else's."
Currently, she has a new single out entitled “Anything” written and arranged by herself with production by Aundre “Triple-A” Jones, super producer with credits from Keyshia Cole, and NYC’s very own Dave East. The single is available on all platforms and you can hear it in regular rotation right here on RhythmAndSoulRadio.com.
